Looking Back on the #PrisonStrike: Nothing is over, everything continues!
Am 9. September 1971 übernahmen die Gefangenen in Attika, das berüchtigtste Gefängnis von New York, und legten es still. Am 9. September 2016 begann eine Aktion von Gefangenen, um ihre laufenden Kämpfe zu intensivieren und jede*n Gefangene*n aufzufordern, sich für ein gemeinsames Ziel zu vereinen, um die Gefängnisse in den Vereinigten Staaten durch einen überregional koordinierten Streik zu schließen. Neben zahlreichen Unruhen, Arbeitsverweigerung, Hungerstreiks und anderen Aktionen der Gefangenen in den USA, beteiligten sich auch Gefangene aus Tschechien, Kolumbien, Mexiko, Griechenland und Kanada an dem Kampf gegen die Gefängnissklaverei.

On September 9th 1971, inmates from new yorks most notorious jail rioted and took control of the prison for 4 days.
On September 9th 2016 the inmates started an action to intensify their ongoing fight and to call upon all prisoners to understand that they should fight together towards the same objective; namely, to close all prisons in the united states through a nationwide coordinated strike. Those imprisoned in the US took part through many agitations, riots, work refusal, hunger strikes and more. Prisoners from czech, columbia, mexiko, greece, and canada also supported the US prisoners, and took part in the fight against prison slavery.
”This is a call to end slavery in America. This call goes directly to the slaves themselves. We are not making demands or requests of our captors, we are calling ourselves to action. To every prisoner in every state and federal institution across this land, we call on you to stop being a slave, to let the crops rot in the plantation fields, to go on strike and cease reproducing the institutions of your confinement. „ – This is a Call to Action Against Slavery in America , written in early spring of 2016 by prisoners in America.
