Why a benefit gig for ABC Vienna?
Simply and sincerely: We need money. It’s surely an annoying thing, but a necessary one. It enables us to support our comrades both in and outside of the country who have been imprisoned or have to face other forms of repression. It enables us to finance pamphlets, posters, stickers and other material. As anarchists, we would find it easier if you gave us your money without any reciprocal service, but it often seems like many people would like to consume at least a little bit in return for their solidarity. Therefore we join the never-ending mass of such events with this benefit fest.
Apart from parties and concerts there will be more info-events and discussions this year. We hope that this organizational framework will possibly enable us to ahve a both diverse and specific glimpse at the questions of prison, repression, social control etc. That is why we have invited people and groups from Dresden, Belarus, Vienna, Prague and Brasil, or they have contacted us themselves. As a follow-up, there will be a lot of music and space for informal exchange. A little overview of particular events can be found on the following pages. We hope that besides the whole “party spectacle” there will still be enough room for making new contacts and for an exchange of information and material. The gastronomic sphere will be – just like last year – taken care of with support of the amazing “F.U.G. cooking group”. Everyday from 2 p.m. there will be an info-point in front of the infoshop (EKH/ground floor). If you had any questions concerning the sleeping places, wanted to offer your support during the festival or needed any kind of help or information, that will be the best place to drop by. It is a natural thing for us that disrespectful behaviour or any kind of harassment are unacceptable, be it during the party or anywhere else, so do not hesitate to interfere and/or ask for help at the bar.
As for organization, it also has to be said that there are some sleeping places in the EKH, however, their number is not unlimited. We will also again arrange a WomenLesbianTrans*-Room. Therefore is it good to let us know early enough if you need a sleeping place. Apart from that we would like to let you know that you will do us and your dogs a big favour if you leave them at home as we cannot offer any pleasant way of accommodating them.

Warum ein Solifest für ABC Wien?
Ganz ehrlich und einfach: Wir brauchen Geld. Klar ist es ein leidiges Thema, aber eben eine Notwendigkeit. Um Genoss_Innen im In- und Ausland, die im Knast sitzen oder mit anderen Formen von Repression konfrontiert sind, zu unterstützen, um Broschüren, Plakate, Aufkleber und andere Materialien zu finanzieren usw. Als AnarchistInnen würden wir es zwar einfacher finden, wenn ihr uns ohne Gegenleistung Kohle geben würdet, denn es scheint oft so, dass viele Menschen für ihre Solidarität zumindest gern ein bisschen konsumieren wollen. Mit diesem Solifest reihen wir uns somit ein in die endlose Masse dieser Events.
Neben Partys und Konzerten wird es dieses Jahr mehrere Infoveranstaltungen und Diskussionen geben. Wir hoffen, dass der uns organisatorisch mögliche Rahmen ausreicht, um eine vielfältige und spezifische Auseinandersetzung rund um die Fragen Knast, Repression, Soziale Kontrolle usw. zu ermöglichen. Dafür haben wir Personen und Gruppen aus Dresden, Belarus, Wien, Prag und Brasilien eingeladen bzw. sind diese an uns herangetreten. Daran anschließend gibt es jede Menge Musik und Raum für informellen Austausch. Einen Überblick zu den stattfindenden Veranstaltungen findet ihr auf den folgenden Seiten. Wir hoffen, dass neben dem ganzen „Partyspektakel“ noch genügend Raum sein wird, um Kontakte zu knüpfen und Infos und Materialien auszutauschen. Essenstechnisch werden wir, so wie letztes Jahr auch, von der großartigen „Kochgruppe F.U.G.“ unterstützt. Es wird jeden Tag ab 14 Uhr einen Infopoint vorm Infoladen (EKH/Erdgeschoss) geben, der als zentrale Anlaufstelle dienen soll. Wenn ihr also irgendwelche Fragen bezüglich Schlafplätzen habt, uns eure Unterstützung während des Festivals anbieten wollt oder ihr auf irgendeine Weise Hilfe oder Informationen benötigt, meldet ihr euch am besten dort. Für uns ist es eine Selbstverständlichkeit, dass respektloses oder übergriffiges Verhalten weder während der Party noch sonst wo akzeptabel ist, also mischt euch ein und/oder holt euch Unterstützung an der Bar.
Organisatorisch bleibt uns noch zu sagen, dass es im EKH Schlafplätze gibt, deren Anzahl allerdings nicht unbegrenzt ist. Auch werden wir wieder einen FrauenLesbenTrans*-Raum einrichten. Deshalb ist es gut, wenn ihr früh genug Bescheid gebt, wenn ihr einen Schlafplatz benötigt. Außerdem wollen wir noch anmerken, dass ihr uns und euren Hunde einen großen Gefallen tut, wenn ihr sie zuhause lasst, denn es gibt keine Möglichkeit, diese irgendwo nett unterzubringen.

After a short introduction to the history and products of the prison society, reasons for the urge to punish and discipline others etc., the focus of this event will turn towards discussing more specific issues connected with the anti-prison discourse.

Schwerpunkt dieser Veranstaltung ist es, nach kurzem Input in Geschichte und Auswüchse der Knastgesellschaft, der Frage nach dem Grund für den Drang nach Bestrafung und Disziplinierung, usw. eine gemeinsame Diskussion zu spezifischeren Themen eines Antiknastschwerpunktes zu führen.

(Angela Davis Documentary and Discussion)
How did Angela Davis, a young student of black philosophy, become a civil rights activist and an accused person in a murder process in the 1970’s? This is a question asked by the director Shola Lynch. 40 years after the judicial trial she lets all the participants of an attempted kidnapping of a judge, that ended with several deaths, have their say. Looking back at the politics of the tumultuous 1970s, the reasons for Davis’ political activism are set, that will brand her as a terrorist in the time of her life. Angela Davis was (among others) active in the Communist Party and the Black Panthers movement, she studied with Theodor W. Adorno, among others published in Black Feminism and has been involved since decades in the anti-prison movement.
Wie wurde Angela Davis, eine junge Schwarze Philosophie-Studentin, in den 1970er-Jahren zur Bürgerrechtsaktivistin und Angeklagten in einem Mord-Prozess? Diese Frage stellt sich die Regisseurin Shola Lynch und lässt 40 Jahre nach dem Gerichtsprozess alle Beteiligten der versuchten Entführung eines Richters, die mit mehreren Toten endete, zu Wort kommen. In Rückblicken auf die Politik der stürmischen 1970er-Jahre werden die Gründe für Davis’ politischen Aktivismus dargelegt, die sie Zeit ihres Lebens als Terroristin brandmarken werden.
Angela Davis war u. a. in der Kommunistischen Partei und bei den Black Panthers aktiv, sie studierte bei Theodor W. Adorno, publiziert u. a. zu Black Feminism und engagiert sich seit Jahrzehnten in der Anti-Gefängnis-Bewegung.

Since the demonstration against the right-wing Akademikerball on 24st January has our friend and comrade Josef been in custody in Wien Josefstadt. He has been accused – among others – of disturbing the peace, an offense which in this context – as can be learned from the media – has been put forward against 500 currently unknown accomplices.

Unser Freund und Genosse Josef sitzt seit der Demo gegen den rechten Akademikerball am 24.1. in U-Haft in Wien Josefstadt. Vorgeworfen wird ihm ua Landfriedensbruch, einem Delikt, mit dem in diesem Zusammenhang – wie aus den Medien zu erfahren ist – aktuell gegen 500 unbekannte MittäterInnen ermittelt wird.

The 21 year old anarchist Mario González García was arrested and tortured on 2nd October 2013. On the grounds of a fabricated offense “Disturbing the public peace” he was sentenced to 5 years and 9 months. This happened shortly after Mario was threatened by the rector’s office of the Mexican UNAM university that his engagement against the educational reforms would have legal consequences for him.
After his arrest Mario spent 56 days in hunger strike demanding his release. Even though there is no evidence against him, the verdict has recently been confirmed by a higher court. Within the context of the criminalization of social protest this verdict serves as an exemplary punishment.
We spoke to Mario in the prison hospital and we have been continuously in touch with his local supporters. As part of the international campaign MARIO LIBRE we demand his immediate and unconditional release!

festgenommen und gefoltert. Auf Grund des fabrizierten Deliktes „Angriff auf
den öffentlichen Frieden“ zu 5 Jahren und 9 Monaten verurteilt. Dies geschah
nur kurz nachdem Mario durch das Rektorat der mexikanischen Universität UNAM bedroht wird, dass sein Engagement gegen die Bildungsreform juristische Konsequenzen für ihn haben wird.
Nach seiner Festnahme war Mario 56 Tage im Hungerstreik um seine Freilassung zu fordern. Obwohl es keine Beweise gegen ihn gibt wurde das Urteil in 2.Instanz vor Kurzem bestätigt. Im Rahmen der Kriminalisierung des sozialen Protestes wird mit diesem Urteil ein Exempel statuiert.
Wir konnten mit Mario im Gefängniskrankenhaus sprechen und sind mit seinen Unterstützer_innen vor Ort laufend in Kontakt.
Im Rahmen der internationalen Kampagne MARIO LIBRE fordern wir seine
sofortige und bedingungslose Freilassung!
17h ABC Belarus: Presentation of the Ihar Alinievich’s book “Going to Magadan”
Anarchists in Belarus experienced biggest police crackdown in 2010. Ihar was one of those whom police and secret service was willing to get most of all. After several months in hideout he was kidnapped in Moscow by Russian secret cervice FSB and illegally transfered to Belarus.
He was sentenced to 8 years for alleged arson of Russian embassy’s car and other radical political actions, even if proof was insufficient.
He wrote a book about conditions in KGB prison which is called “Going to Magadan”. English translation was recently published.
2010 waren Anarchist_innen in Weissrussland von massiver Repression betroffen. Ihar war einer der Meistgesuchten unter den Betroffenen. Nachdem er für Monate untergetaucht war, wurde er in Moskau von der Russischen Geheimpolizei FSB gekidnapt und illegalerweise nach Weissrussland transferiert.
Er wurde zu wegen dem Vorwurf des Abfackeln eines Autos der russischen Botschaft und anderer Aktionen zu 8 Jahren Haft verurteilt, obwohl es keine stichhaltigen Beweise gab.
Im Gefängnis schrieb er ein Buch mit dem Titel „Going to Magadan“ über die Verhältnisse in KGB Gefängnissen. Die englische Übersetzung ist gerade erst rausgekommen.
19h Rote Hilfe Dresden: § 129 Proceedings in Dresden
Over 20 people from different structures have been charged with the construct of “Criminal Organization” (§129 StGB).The accusations represent a variety of everyday left-wing politics, reaching from necessary antifascist self-defense to participation on demonstrations in the country as well as abroad. The authorities are followed as far away as to Greece, where similar constructs take place to exhaust politically active people by the means of repression.
Seit Anfang 2010 gibt es in Dresden umfangreiche Ermittlungen unter dem Konstrukt der “kriminellen Vereinigung” §129 StGB. Betroffen davon sind über 20 Personen aus unterschiedlichen Strukturen. Die Vorwürfe stellen einen Querschnitt alltäglicher linker Politik dar, die von der Organisation des notwendigen antifaschistischen Selbstschutzes bis hin zu Teilnahme an Demonstrationen im In- und Ausland reichen. Die Behörden sind bis nach Griechenland gefolgt, wo es ähnliche Konstrukte gibt um Politisch Aktive mit Repressionen zu überziehen.

close Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS), Europe’s largest animal testing
facility. Focussing on the tactics used to bring the multinational
corporation into $120 million of debt, and the five trials in the USA & UK
so far imprisoning 19 activists to over 96 years (collectively) for their
involvement in Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC); under charges of
conspiring to blackmail (UK) and indictments of terrorism (USA).
Eine Infoveranstaltung über die Geschichte der globalen Kampagne zur Schließung von Huntingdon Life Sciences(HLS), Europas größte Tierversuchsanstalt. Announcement by ABC Belarus
This year Anarchist Black Cross Belarus is doing yet another infotour around Europe. We have several goals to achieve through visiting several countries. We want to spread the information about the Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners that will happen at the end of August 2014. This is a joint project of several ABC groups around Europe trying to unite our efforts to support comrades in prisons.
We also would like to share with you the information about the situation with the anarchist movement in Belarus. We hope that stories about anarchists from the other places will help you in your own struggles. It is not possible to talk about the anarchist movement in the country without mentioning repressions that movement is facing right now and how we deal with them.
We would like to have a discussion with local anarchists about your own experience with repressions and what were the things that were/are helping you to deal with those repressions.
ABC activity also constantly require money and this last but not the least point of our infotour – we would like to raise funds we can use for supporting prisoners by paying their lawyers, books, food. Also we need money for printing propaganda.

Auch in diesem Jahr findet eine Infotour des Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) Belarus durch verschiedene Länder Europas statt. Für unsere Besuche während der Tour haben wir uns verschiedene Ziele gesetzt.
Wir wollen über die, für Ende August 2014, geplante „Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners“ informieren. Dies ist ein gemeinsames Projekt europäischer ABC-Gruppen, das unsere jeweiligen Kämpfe und die Unterstützung gefangener Genoss*innen zusammenführen und gegenseitig stärken soll.
Natürlich wollen euch auch über die aktuelle Situation der anarchistischen Bewegung in Belarus berichten. Wir hoffen, dass Erzählungen über anarchistische Kämpfe und Aktivitäten aus anderen Orten euch in euren eigenen Kämpfen unterstützen oder inspirieren können. Ein solcher Bericht wäre nicht möglich, ohne über die Repression zu sprechen, der die Bewegung in Belarus seit langem ausgesetzt war und ist und wie wir damit umgehen. Davon ausgehend, wollen wir mit euch über eure lokalen Erfahrungen mit Repression sprechen und über Möglichkeiten und Methoden, die euch geholfen haben damit
umzugehen.
ABC-Arbeit verbraucht kontinuierlich Geld, weswegen dies auch ein – leider notwendiges – Ziel unserer Tour ist. Wir wollen Spenden sammeln, um damit Anwält*innen, Bücher, Essen etc. für die Gefangenen zu bezahlen und Propagandamaterial zu finanzieren. Dazu werden wir vielerlei Soli-Material, wie Shirts, Postkarten oder Aufnäher, dabei haben.
Zu guter Letzt habt ihr auf jeder Veranstaltung die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam Briefe oder Postkarten an die Gefangenen zu schreiben.
